It's always a great idea to consider your eye health and a delight to add a colorful accessory to enhance your knitting or crocheting experience. Have you had your eyes checked lately by a board certified eye doctor? Are they strained? Do you have enough light on your projects?  Do you rest your eyes when they feel tired?  When you show your eyes a little love, they respond in kind with a renewed appreciation for color, detail and accuracy which are all so valuable to us as creative people.

New month, new projects, new fun!

New day, new month and, in case you haven't noticed, or are not reading this on knit1fortheroad on Blogger.com, my blog has a new look.

Here's what I've been working on. 
It's a crochet chemo cap, or "happy cap", as I've named it. This one is made with CottonEase from LionBrand. You'll understand the name, if you've ever received or read feedback from recepients of a cap for themselves, or a family member.  It's a small gesture for me to make, and a super fine feeling for the person who needs more color, smiles, and comfort in their time of need. I'm also knitting a few more, but I just had to share one of my favorites with you.

Since we're talking crochet, my copy of CrochetToday! arrived just in time to dispel the winter chill and anticipation of the impending icey storm heading our way. It's chock full of spring colors and fun projects. Check your local craft or yarn store for an issue.

I know that I've been bringing you a lot of products and free patterns lately, so I hope you're not overwhelmed, but I do try to post things as I find them.  This handy bracelet kit gives you instructions on triple bangle and the twist versions in six different color choices.  It's a great way to dive into knitting jewelry or a fun item to add to your knitting wishlist.

The Scarf Project for the 2011 Special Olympics is still on.  This year you have the option to pick a state to send your scarf(s) to, which is pretty cool.  The deadlines vary, but there's still time to whip up a scarf or two and lot's of free knit or crochet scarf patterns.  Please visit the guidelines page for details.

Drum Roll Please.

Yarn Drum Tm at Patternworks

The Yarn Drum Tm at Patternworks is an affordable way to keep your yarn and accessories organized at home or on the run.  It's perfect for vacations and concerts in the park or any other places you take your knit and crochet projects.  The Yarn Drum will hold up to eight full-sized balls of yarn - Wowee!- and your accessories for a project.  It's durable, and the round design makes it easy to pack in the car.  There's a zipper around the top for easy access, an accessory pouch,  and a comfortable shoulder strap. The bag is made out of woven poly and has a PVC base.  This yarnie gem's measurements are 12" around and 12 3/4" high.  It's currently on backorder, but more are expected by May 10th, which is just around the corner and well worth waiting for.  Yay!
