Shamrock Sightings!

March 17th will be here before you know it and St Patrick's Day celebrations will be underway.  Growing up with one side of the family Irish in Savannah, I had no choice but to keep the spirit of St Patrick's Day every year.  My father referred to it as the "grandest day of the year" and through the years, I have come to embrace the celebration and take comfort in the power of the green.  Who doesn't like a great parade and a chance to celebrate living in America?

Here are a few sites that will fix you up with adorable shamrock knit and crochet patterns to adorn your hats, scarves, mittens or other festive items.

Adorable Shamrockin' Hat from Polar Knits will keep you warm and in the spirit of the day.

Just thinking ahead and looking forward to seeing more green in our future.

Celebrate Costume Designers!

This weekend we went to see Edge of Darkness and I was thrilled to see one of the main characters, Emma Craven, in a beautiful knit sweater.  Are you a fan of Lindy Hemming, the academy award winning costume designer of Topsy-Turvey (1999)?  She also designed costumes for The Dark Knight, Casino Royale, and so many more movies.  You'll enjoy her costume work on Edge of Darkness.

Keeping it real has a whole new meaning when it comes to costume design.  Truly talented designers can edit their work, stay true to the characters and can create everything from fantasy to gritty reality. The have the instinct to choose whatever is required to make a film rich with texture, color and create an enhanced viewer experience.

Today, let's celebrate the hard working and dedicated designers out there in every artitstic endeavor, look for knitting in your world and celebrate every stitch this week.
