Monday always seems like a great day to look ahead and discover patterns for the ultimate knit and crochet season.  Here are three patterns that really caught my eye today and I hope you like them too.

Childhood Knitting Tales

Freddie's Blanket by Joanna Johnson with illustrations by Eric Johnson.

I miss childhood sometimes when I see treasures like Freddie's Blanket by Joanna Johnson.  Joanna weaves a wonderful tale about an adorable Platypus, named Freddie, and manages to incorporate knitted items throughout the book, with patterns included, of course.  The illustrations really grab my "art heart" and are created by Joanna's husband, Eric.  Joanna and Eric, inspired by their own children, share with us an opportunity to create our own traditions of sharing our love of knitting with our little ones.

What are you working on this week?  Do you have any lingering WIP's to finish?  Perhaps a desire to put your needles and hooks to work on a charity project or new design? Here are a couple of projects I've been working on ...

Made for The Pink Slipper Project

These are slippers made for The Pink Slipper Project.  Three are adult and knit with one of the simple and fun basic slipper patterns ( Signature Worsted Weight Knit Slipper pattern designed by Rachel Terrill).

You'll find many fun slipper patterns to knit, crochet, or sew on the website.  The other, smaller slipper is for a child and was inspired by the free pattern from Polar Knit, Easy Family Slippers.  I used RedHeartSuperSaver worsted weight  in Turqua, Delft Blue, and Royal. As with all charity projects, please remember to check yarn requirements and instructions before you begin and always respect the pattern copyright.

My WIP, Sea Breeze Top, a free LionBrand Pattern

I'm back to working on my WIP, LionBrand crochet Sea Breeze Top after taking a few days away. It's really simple to make and goes quickly. I chose CottonEase in Violet for this project.  It's going to be soft and durable and a perfect addition to any summer wardrobe.  I'll be working on the straps soon.

Here's to finished projects, wip's and a much needed rainey afternoon.  Chocolate would be good too.

Are you noticing the slight change in daylight coming through your window? Maybe you've noticed it getting dark earlier?  Do you feel that keen anticipation of Autumn colors and clothing? Perhaps you have a slight case of cardi fever.  Well, here's a fun way you can get a jump start on cardi season with some of these adorable (made with leather like material) zipper charms from Red Heart.
