FINDING YOUR KNITTING VOICE

Bookmark and Share

Searching for your knitting voice is an ongoing evolutionary journey with many ups and downs - just like life. Staying on the ride is the assignment and learning to make mistakes along the way. Rip-Knit-Rip-Knit but eventually you work through it and come to the RAINBOW side of a wonderfully constructed and knitted project - hooray!

Ravelry knows this and invites us to share our knitting tales of woe with others in the community as this is part of the creative process. It's a wonderful group of people from all the yarnie and fiber disciplines together in one community. If you have not joined this community, please go to
Ravelry.com and look at the profile page. The community is growing, as are the dynamic groups and forums that you can participate in.

There was a huge article in the Fall issue of Vogue Knitting devoted to Ravelry and their story along with what has been accomplished in such a short time. Click your needles together for Ravelry! Enjoy your fellow knitters, fiber artists, spinners, designers, and groups - post your work, stash and library goodies...and don't be afraid to rip-knit-rip anymore.

Enjoy the creative process;! We're ALL together in this universal process in the wonderful community called Ravelry.

NEED A STIX FIX? TIRED OF KNOTS & TANGLES?

Bookmark and Share

Knit Simple(Fall 2008)
This magazine is one of my favorites and is always fun to read. The fall issue has featured a few products you might enjoy...here are a couple of them.

knottygirlsknit has a product for all those tired, worn out, but loveable bamboo needles, called Stix Fix. The kit comes with beeswax filler, sandpaper and a buffing cloth. Happy bamboo needles, means a happy knitter!

Sock knitters will want to check out Flat Feet, two panels of hand-painted merino/nylon - enough for one pair of socks which unravels as you knit and eliminates tangles and knots. YEAH! If this intrigues you, visit
conjoinedcreations for the full scoop.

Ready for a colorful fall?

KNITTING IS LIKE SUSHI...

Bookmark and Share
In the beginning, you're not sure, you might even say out right it's not your thing, but eventually you try it, and you get hooked because you had the right person to show you what it was all about and help you pick out the right things. Y
ou will need help picking patterns that are the right skill level so that you don't become frustrated. Many communities and yarn/craft stores offer classes with reasonable pricing.

Knitting shops online have free online videos to help you and there are also links on my F.A.Q. page of knit1fortheroad. Look for good descriptions and a skill level rating of Easy in your patterns when you are just starting. The patterns that tell you what you will need to know before you start are very helpful.

If you've been knitting for awhile, keep learning and studying what's new -Learn a new stitch or finishing technique to enhance your knitting and crochet skills.
Try spinning, or dying your own yarn - or both! You may discover skills you didn't know you had.

Many of your favorite shops are going through their inventory and gearing up for the Fall/Winter season right now. This is great, if you're a yarnie because you can take advantage of discounts, discontinued but fabulous yarn that is marked down to ridiculously low prices. I'm talkin' the good stuff that you drool over but can't afford full price! This is your time splurge a little. Add your fav online stores - LIKE
ETSY SHOPS- to your email so you can keep up with the latest sales and new products.

Celebrate being a yarnie!
Try new things and be Pleasantly Surprised!
