The work life has been seriously getting in my knitting way, lately, but I did want to remind you to mark your calendars for the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, MD. Some of your favorite vendors are attending, along with sheep shearing, food, classes, and demos. Go early and stay late...there's plenty of parking for cars and buses and it's totally FREE!  Good, right?  Thought you might agree.  I've been going for several years, and it's one of my favorite fiber events.  Try to go early though, because it really gets crowded.You can download the festival flyer here.

This event is family and fiber friendly. They do ask that you leave the doggies and other pets home, however.

Wacky and Wonderful Woollies

Hope you all had a nice holiday filled with fireworks, bbq and good times here in the U.S.  I spent time kayaking and getting caught up on some projects for various charities.  There's something about a long, hot summer holiday that makes me loose focus on knitting.  That's when I often double down on crochet -another passion of mine.  It's been wonderful to be able to do both, and I encourage you to pick up needles and hooks whenever you can.  Either way, or both -it's all good stuff.

While I was at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival this year, I came across some woollies - Wacky Woollies, that is at All About Yarn. (one of my favorite stops at the event) Delightful and fun accessories for the yarnie in all of us.  These woollies are colorful, full of attittude and just the thing to raise your spirits.
Celtic Hills has a good selection.  The Dublin Gift Company on Amazon has good prices, also. Take a look and see what you think. 

Knitting, like life, should be fun, colorful and wacky at times.

Mother's Day Crunch Time

This weekend was filled with the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in Howard County on Saturday and visits to historical sites outside of Baltimore on Sunday.  I'm recovering from overload and will have more to report on Saturday's event tomorrow.  In the meantime, I found these quick Mother's Day (May 9) projects that might inspire you on your quest for the perfect crafty present for the Mom in your life.

How about a recipe for a soothing body scrub to relax Mom?  Try this one from Marigold Lane for a

You might consider decorating a basket, toolbox, garden planter or hatbox with items that your mom will love. Consider an indoor herb garden kit, handmade beaded and vintage jewelry, hat sticks, or silk scarves for the hatbox, tools and gardening gloves, shoes, and apron with a girly flair or floral print for a tool kit and planter, and your favorite premixed packages (or your own) recipes for scones, bread, cozies and coffee/tea combinations for a basket.  Add an easy tie and reusable bow made out of material and wire for easy tying from your local craft or sewing store.
