Looking for beautiful colors, easy care worsted yarn, and new projects to knit or crochet? Try the new yarn from Herrschners, Worsted 8 Yarn. I'm thinking warm afghans, charity knit/crochet items, and home decor projects, myself. You can also save 44% if you order from the website. Hooray! There are sooo many yummy colors to choose from, too.
Margaret (remembering the first yarn I ever ordered from the Herrschner catalog many moons ago)
Hello, I just got the Herrschners catalog and saw the great price on the Worsted 8, but I'm pretty snobby about softness. So, how does this yarn rate on softness? I do not like the standard Red Heart (I like Red Heart Soft) but as a comparison to Red Heart what do you think? My mainstay is Caron Simply Soft, but I'm looking for something a bit bulkier right now. Thank you! Charissa of http://www.madmadme.com/
Hi Charissa - I tried a couple of skeins and made a scarf with it. I definitely found it softer than the standard Red Heart and yet it still offered durability and washed well. The great price definitely makes it worth a try. Maybe start off with one or two skeins for a smaller project to see how you like it.
I also love and use Caron Simply soft quite a bit. It's super soft, I agree, but for some projects I like a little more durability for items I wear a lot or for afghans that are washed often. Acrylic has come a long way!
Thanks so much for commenting. Happy Holiday Knitting and Crochet! Margaret
